This Privacy Policy explains how the Magnifying Glass mobile application ("Magnifying Glass", "the app") handles information. The app is developed and published by Easier Mobile ("we", "us").
In short: Magnifying Glass has no user accounts and no servers of ours. What your camera sees, the pictures you capture, and any text the app reads aloud stay on your device — we never receive them. The app does show ads and offer an optional paid upgrade, and those are handled by Google, which is described in sections 5 and 6.
We operate no server and receive no personal information from the app. Magnifying Glass has no sign-in, no user profile, and no analytics SDK. There is no network client in the app capable of uploading your images or recognised text anywhere.
To make the app work, Magnifying Glass saves the following on your device only. It is never sent to us, and it is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
| What | Why it is stored |
|---|---|
| Focus mode and single-tap preference | To restore how you like the magnifier to focus and behave when tapped. |
| Camera shutter sound setting | To remember whether you want a sound when capturing. |
| Speech rate | To read text aloud at the speed you chose. |
| Capture count and first-run state | To decide when to ask for an app rating and whether to show the introduction. |
| Your purchase status | To unlock the ad-free experience without asking Google Play on every screen. |
The camera is the app's core function. The live image is processed on your device to magnify, focus, adjust brightness and freeze the picture. Camera frames are not recorded, not uploaded, and not shared with us or anyone else.
When you capture a picture, it is written to your device's own photo storage, in an album named
Magnifying Glass under Pictures. These files belong to you:
The app can recognise text in what the camera sees, so it can be enlarged or read aloud. This uses Google ML Kit text recognition running on your device, through Google Play services. The image is analysed locally; it is not sent to us. The recognition model is downloaded once by Google Play services and then works offline.
When you ask the app to read text aloud, it hands that text to the text-to-speech engine installed on your device. Which engine that is — and how it processes the text — depends on your device and its settings. We do not receive the text, and we do not store what was read.
The free version of Magnifying Glass shows advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may access your device's advertising ID and technical information such as your device type, general location derived from your IP address, and how you interacted with an ad. This is collected by Google, not by us; we never see who you are.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows a consent screen before personalised ads are used, provided through Google's User Messaging Platform. You may accept or refuse personalised ads, and you can change that choice later from the app's settings.
You can also limit ad tracking for every app at once in Android Settings, under Privacy → Ads, where you can delete or reset your advertising ID. How Google uses data from apps that use its advertising services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Magnifying Glass offers an optional paid upgrade that removes advertisements. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or any payment credential. The app only receives confirmation from Google Play that a purchase is active, so it knows to hide the ads.
Refunds, subscription management and cancellation are handled through your Google Play account.
These are the only third parties the app communicates with. Each handles data under its own privacy policy.
| Service | What it is used for | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Showing advertisements in the free version | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google Play Billing | Processing the optional paid upgrade | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google Play services (ML Kit) | On-device text recognition | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google Play In-App Review | Showing the optional rating prompt | Google Privacy Policy |
The app requests only what its features need. You may deny any permission, and you can revoke it later in Android Settings — the app will keep working, minus the feature that needed it.
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
CAMERA | To show and magnify the live camera image. Without it the magnifier cannot work. |
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | To load advertisements and to verify purchases with Google Play. |
AD_ID | To let Google's advertising services use the device advertising ID, subject to your consent choice. |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE(Android 9 and older only) | To save captured pictures. On Android 10 and newer no storage permission is required. |
Magnifying Glass is a general-purpose accessibility tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, there is nothing for us to delete — but if you believe a child's data has reached us in some way, contact us and we will act on it.
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. Everything the app keeps is on your device, and you control it:
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export personal data a company holds about you, or to object to its processing — for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California. We hold no such data, so there is nothing for us to produce or erase. Rights concerning data held by Google in connection with advertising or payments should be exercised through your Google account and Google's privacy tools.
Because the app keeps your information on your device and sends nothing to us, the main protection is your device itself: your screen lock, your Android version, and the app sandbox that prevents other apps from reading our stored settings. We recommend keeping your device updated.
We may update this policy when the app changes. The revised version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's Play Store listing. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
